What this prototype is meant to demonstrate
Research questions
How large is the formal executive branch? Which agencies define operating capacity? How does legislature structure change the governing environment?
Data model
Each state record separates numeric measures, institutional construction, source confidence, and qualitative notes so future analysis can be audited instead of hidden in prose.
Next data pass
Replace starter values with a reproducible ingest from state budget books, workforce reports,
legislative manuals, and Census government employment tables. Current legislature data is loaded
from data/state_legislatures_full.csv, with official site links from
data/state_legislature_urls.csv.
